As part of our Institutional Partnerships Programme, Iran Heritage Foundation is supporting University of Cambridge in recruiting a 3-year fixed term Lector in Persian language.

Salary: £23,661 – £26,629 per annum

The University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint the Iran Heritage Foundation Lector in Persian Language in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies, to begin on 1st October 2011. The post is a fixed-term three-year appointment, and is made possible by generous grants from the Iran Heritage Foundation and the Isaac Newton Trust.

The successful candidate will teach Persian language at all levels and will be responsible for designing and organizing the teaching programme for all three years of the undergraduate course. It is expected that the successful candidate will have native command of spoken and written Persian with native or near native command of both spoken and written English. Candidates should have experience teaching Persian language, ideally within higher education, and preferably as a foreign language, and will be expected to have a degree in a relevant area of Persian language or linguistics, preferably at postgraduate level. Applicants will be expected to be able to help provide a structured and engaging programme of language teaching over beginner, intermediate and advanced level, to small classes of bright and highly motivated students. He or she must also be willing to administer the course, set and mark exams, assist with the year abroad programme and cooperate in a friendly spirit with colleagues and faculty administrative staff. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Professor of Persian History and the general leadership of the Head of Department.
