Study day about the art, music and poetry of Iran, celebrating the ancient festival of Norouz.

 

 

Organized by

Victoria & Albert Museum and Iran Heritage Foundation.

The V&A is an Institutional Partner of the IHF and the convener of this Study Day, Dr Moya Carey is the IHF Curator of Iranian Art at the V&A.

Introduction

The ancient festival of Norouz (Persian New Year) is celebrated every year at the Spring equinox by Iranians as well as Kurds, Afghans and the peoples of Central Asia, at home and all over the world. It is a joyous holiday period with great cultural resonance. This study day introduces art, music and poetry from Iran with a special connection to the customs and history of Norouz. The speakers include visiting academics and V&A curators.
