The Iran Heritage Foundation is a non-political UK registered charity, with the mission to promote and preserve the history, languages and cultures of Iran and the Persians. The objectives of the Foundation are pursued by organising, on a worldwide basis, diverse activities of cultural or scholarly merit. IHF programmes include academic research, publishing and university fellowships - currently at Oxford, Cambridge and St Andrews universities.
IHF initiates a wide range of activities intended to facilitate the study of Iran's history and culture, both among academics and the wider community. This is supported by multi-disciplinary events that present wide aspects of Persian culture, both ancient and modern. In the modern arena, IHF has promoted Iranian cinema, theatre, dance and contemporary art. Historic Iran has also been most successfully represented, for example, through the British Museum’s exhibition on the Achaemenids - Forgotten Empire: the World of Ancient Persia.
By forging ties with most of the major museums and universities around the world, the Foundation has succeeded in bringing the highest level of expertise to its programmes, making IHF the partner of choice for many of these institutions. IHF’s international reach has included programmes in Armenia, Austria, Canada, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the United States and Britain. Our main source of funding is the annual contribution pledged by our Trustees and Patrons, supplemented by fund-raising events, such as our Norouz Gala in London. Business and individual sponsorships are also encouraged, to assist with various projects. We accept no financial support from any government organisations or lobbying groups.
