Pejman Azarmina (Santur)
Pejman Azarmina was born in Tehran, 1973, and is a Santurist and composer. He started music with Master Faramarz Payvar at age 11 and graduated from his school in 1994. His other music teachers were Master Hossein Dehlavi and Ahmad
Pejman. Dr. Azarmina has performed extensively in Iran; has published albums and scores of
Old Persian Dances (Rengha-ye Haft Dastgah) and Shabdiz; and collaborated in the production of
Love Dynasty, a CD package for Persian music education and appreciation. He has taught
Santur since 1995 and now lives in London, England.
Seyed Amir Ali Sam (Tombak)
Born in 1983, Tehran, Seyed Ami Ali Sam first began to study the Persian percussion
(Tombak) at the age of 8. He attended a few introductory sessions with Kambiz Ganjeyi. In London, he continued studying the
Tombak via self-directed learning. He mainly follows the style of Master Tehrani, Malek, Eftetaah, and more recently Khalaj and
Haddadi.
He has performed in several concerts including one at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, accompanying Mrs. Hoorvash and her ensemble. He also played in concerts accompanying his brother, Amir Hossein Sam, and is currently collaborating with him in the production of an album. He studies accountancy at Brunel University in London; nevertheless, continues his passion for Persian folk music.
