IHF Celebrates Women’s History Month

Pioneers of Women's Rights In Iran

The Iran Heritage Foundation (IHF) is proud to commemorate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day on the 8th of March. This is an occasion to elevate women’s history and to spotlight women’s unacknowledged achievements.

IHF continuously strives to preserve and celebrate Iranian history as human history. As one of the oldest civilisations in the world, Iran has made innumerable contributions to the world as we know it. This profound influence is often invisible as it is woven into the fabric of human culture - from religion, politics, philosophy, language, literature, horticulture, cinema, music, fashion, and beyond. Women’s contributions to this history, and human progress overall, go unseen far too often.

On this International Women’s Day, the IHF is proud to recognise the countless contributions of Iranian women spanning the course of Iranian history - from ancient civilisation in 550 B.C. to today. It’s worth acknowledging that the Iranian Women’s Rights Movement first emerged after the Constitutional Revolution as far back as 1910.  2023 also marks the 60th anniversary of the grant of suffrage to Iranian women. Honouring and recognizing these contributions is an act of reclaiming power in the pursuit of equality while celebrating Iran’s long-standing traditions. The IHF is grateful for the historic and present-day contributions of women worldwide, from Iran and beyond.
