Iraj Pezeshkzad
In Memoriam 1928 – 2022 It is with great regret to note the passing away of Iraj Pezeshkzad (1928-2022) in Los Angeles, the illustrious author of the Iranian cultural phenomenon Daii Jan Napoleon (My Uncle Napoleon), published in 1973. An acclaimed writer, with a degree in Law, Pezeshkzad started his career as a Judge in the Iranian Judiciary, before joining the Foreign Office, where he served as a diplomat until 1979. He started his writing career in the 1950s by translating into Persian, French literary works, and by writing short stories and articles for journals. Of the many novels he authored, none has attained the iconic status of his Daii Jan Napoleon, a social satire translated into many languages and accoladed by the literary critics the world over, presenting a humorous Iranian world, full of tenderness. Iran Heritage Foundation, extends its heartfelt condolences to the Pezeshkzad family and the lovers of Iranian literature throughout the world. |
